In roses we trust
“In roses we trust” by Vala T. Foltyn is a performance piece that is working with the notions of witchcraft and strategies of resistance. It is a sensual howl of loss, a queer elegy or an act of self-empowerment. As an artist and activist Vala T. Foltyn works with the notions of loss and death. As a queer witch she dances from her personal experiences and feelings; such as being evicted from an old villa, that was a shelter for independent queer art scene in Kraków, Poland (Lamella the house of queer arts). Their story goes beyond the mere effects of power structures of neoliberal politics, corruption, precarity, or even gentrification. This experience becomes a material for performance making situated in site specific ritual—it shape_shits and reacts to the local environment.
