Vala believes that ritual can provide space for people to come together in the process of art making in order to challenge, support and question their existence. The Loss, the Rejection or the Heart_break_up can create a wound that needs to be a healed. The wound is curved in our bodies and it needs a proper healing. The healing can be done as ritual through dance, poetry and other forms of art making.
Each one of us can be a healer, same as being a lover, a mother, a sister and also an artist. Each one of us is an expert of their own experience and we know exactly what needs to be done for ourselves only if we truly connect to our deepest source - our heart, our genitals, our pelvis and our sacrum.
there’s something joyous about making something personal and vulnerable into a community ritual Vala wants to talk bodies Vala wants to talk pleasures Vala wants to talk eros
This ritual was done by Vala in the last days of her presence at her house/source. This was a ritual - a process that has opened her challenges of leaving her safe place for art making and hosting her guests. This ritual was also a tribute to female ancestors, femininity and and Mother Earth. Vala refers to their own family history and connects with her beloved grandmothers, sisters, fathers, brothers and nature companions that guide her in her revolutionary practices. Vala questions the private and public, and offers her own personal history, feelings, thoughts and corporality to the public - named as friends and companions.
(…) Ritual transcend space and time, and open up experiential spaces beyond the realm of language and beyond intellectual understanding of life events. They create order in the midst of chaos and give support along the way to unknown, uncertain places. In the search for universal principles of ritual that remain relevant for today, Anna Halprin arrives at the following definition:
„The ritual has the intention to confront specific life issue with the purpose of bringing about the desired change, vision and transformation. A ritual is the enactment of the myth. The myth emerges when we confront a real life issue.” (Anna Halprin), from the book by Ronit Land: 'Anna Halprin: Dance - Process - Form', page 86.
